Advanced poses: The Inclined Plane & Variations
March 31st 2009 00:48
The basic asana is performed by sitting with your legs out straight in front of you and hands behind you, fingers facing away from your body. Using your hands as support, lean backward and then raise your butt from the ground, pushing your hips up as high as you can. Your feet should become flat on the floor in this pose and your legs remain straight. Your head should drop back slightly.
To advance from the basic pose, you can lift alternate arms or legs, straight up from the basic position, one at a time. When you become more experienced, you can raise the leg and arm of the same side at the same time, and clasp your foot, keeping both the arm and leg straight.
