CONSTANT CHANGING

One of the bonuses of an at-home Yoga practice is that you can control the Asanas practiced to suit your mood, ability, outlook, and strength. For example, if you are feeling tired you can extend Savasana and cut a few of the more difficult poses from the routine - or if you are feeling lethargic you can add in a new pose and focus upon practicing to perfect it.
Given that most people have far less dramatic lifestyles than me I can also see the value of sticking to a set routine, but personally I aim to vary my Yoga practice dependant upon each individual day. Having changed country of residence twice, lived with lovers, husbands, sons, parents, and a bunch of friends, having turned vegan from meat-lover, carer from writer from home schooling mom, etc - all mean that my life changes and I can change my Yoga session to fit my current style.
Additionally, I can focus on other areas of yogic practice when the needs arise to do so - I am not set on a provided generic routine of Asana with maybe a chant or meditation session tossed in. If I need to focus on dietary changes, relaxation, mental focusing - these can all be concentrated upon in addition to or in place of the physical Yoga.
DIY Yoga home sessions are therefore my personally preferred option.
