June 2nd 2008 15:45
What are the contact details for your Yoga Classes?
My website: www.yoga-dj.com, www.yogaforrunners.co.uk
or email lauradenham.jones@gmail.com
What style(s) of Yoga is/are available?
Open Classes in Vinyasa Flow and Gentle Hatha, plus Ashtanga Primary Series and Yoga for Runners (privately) . Coming soon: Pilates!
What classes are currently running?
Mondays (Yoga Slow) and Wednesday (Yoga Flow) 6:307:30pm at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea, London. These are courses and pre-registration is required!
How long have you been offering Yoga workshops?
I started teaching Yoga for Runners Workshops for Triyoga in London in 2003, when I moved back from 13 years in San Francisco. I teach several of them every year to introduce athletes to yoga.
On average, how many people practice with you each week?
I tend to teach small groups at the moment, so about 20 at the moment.
What features/facilities do you offer that other Yoga centers and trainers do not?
My speciality over the past 5 years has been Yoga for Runners and Athletes. As somebody who has run 6 marathons and entered numerous other races, I understand the way in which the body can become unbalanced, and how to address them to create harmony in movement, improve efficiency in running and ideally avoid injury.
Do you offer Yoga instruction in areas other than asana/pranayama?
I do try to integrate a basic level of Buddhist thought into my teaching, where I can. Mostly I just try to share the positive aspects of my own life philosophies which come from many sources, not least experience!
What is/are the cost of a class/workshop?
£8 per class if you join for the term. Workshops £20. £40 per hour for privates.
How long have you been practicing Yoga?
Since 1985. But only consistently for about 10.
What would you say is the most beneficial aspect of Yoga?
Through mental and physical balance, Yoga can begin to create inner happiness and at the very least encourage a more considerate approach to other people and the environment.
Which is your personal favorite asana?
The headstand.
