I took just two days break from Yoga practice - due to a stomach bug - and on the third day was completely wrecked physically. (This is probably just a continuation of the flu-like bug, rather than anything more serious.) When I came to Yoga practice, I was like a dead weight trying to move lumps of lead against their will.
My leg raises for example did not move to 90 degrees angle, but somewhere between 2 inches and a foot from the floor. I could not even get into shoulderstand, despite trying to cheat by rolling or side bending and then rolling.
I guess it is back to starting from scratch - getting rid of my arthritic back from square one, despite the good work of the past 2 years effort that cured it completely - til this darn stomach bug hit and ruined my body!
Yoga has still helped me, though - because I KNOW I can crawl on back over the next week or two, and should be fit again by the close of the month. I also have learned both peace and patience, so can handle this set back without getting angry, devastated, or giving up.
So, maybe stomach bugs can return what Yoga fixes in relation to arthritis, but NOTHING can take away that inner peace...
