Yoga Styles: Cy-Yo

Cy-Yo is another modern Western form of Yoga practice that originated in the US and is action-based, rather than a complete Yogic lifestyle. It involves an hour long session, combining cycling and Yoga in a 'Yoga ten minute: Cycling forty minute: Yoga ten minute' ratio.
The object is to commence with a Yoga warm-up, energizing the muscles and joints. This is also said to activate the energy centers. Next, structured cycling occurs. Visualization, breathing and detoxification are a part of the process, before the final Yoga session offers an energy-focusing end to the session.
Although regular asana may be included in the two mini-sessions, and breathing and energy-flow attended to during the cycling - reportedly done at rapid speed in accompaniment to loud music, over which the instructor shouts commands - it appears to fall short for anyone seeking more than an aerobics workout with a touch of yoga on the side. However, for fitness seekers, it may still offer the answer to escaping the boredom of yet another aerobics class or gym session, if not providing much value to those seeking a complete Yogic lifestyle.
