Sparsha can also be spelt Sparsa and is Sanskrit for the word 'touch'. It may also mean 'contact', 'touching', and in Buddhist terminology Sparsa can be translated as 'sense impression'. When used as a Yogic term, it can relate to the following three matters:
* Sparsha Yoga is classified as a Vedantic Yoga discipline stemming from the Shiva-Purāna text. It involves contact or touch in conjunction with pranayama and mantra recitation.
* Traditionally, Sparsha is a specific form of initiation involving a transferal of energy from a Guru to the disciple in order to bring about an awakening of the consciousness or chakras.
* In modern times, Sparsha relates to hands-on adjustments used in order to create a long-lasting teacher-student bond. It incorporates the passing of knowledge from a teacher to the student.
