Yoga Styles: Vinyasa Yoga
October 12th 2009 14:17
Vinyasa Yoga may also be called Vinyasa Flow Yoga or Vinyasa Hatha Yoga. It was originally called Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, but the term Ashtanga has now been dropped from the practice. Vinyasa Yoga is related to Ashtanga Yoga, but is less traditional. The spiritual development comes second place to physical performance, unlike the completeness of traditional Ashtanga classes.
Vinyasa is the term used to describe a style of Yoga that flows between Asanas with a control over the breathing and movements. Vinyasa uses only one breath per move, making it vigorous of pace. Some Vinyasa classes are performed to a background of music.
Vinyasa Krama Yoga is a variation of Vinyasa Yoga in which extra importance is given to Asana sequencing and Pranayama practice.
