YOGA TEXTS: P.Y.S. 3
July 4th 2010 13:29
V5: This verse is self explanatory, informing us that there are 5 separate styles of mental movement, some of which bring contentment and some pain. This is further explained in the next few verses.
V6: This verse lists the five mental conditions: right/correct knowledge and the reverse, delusion, sleep and memory.
V7: Direct perception, deduction, and spiritual text or communication are the methods to attain right/correct knowledge, we are told. This would include access to knowing the deeper inner levels of the mind through meditation, study and teachings from religious texts, logically processing matters, or direct instruction from one who has already found right/correct knowledge.
V8: The reverse, incorrect knowledge, is present if we do not have awareness of right/correct knowledge. (From my own personal studies, I can verify that there is a difference between truly knowing in the intuition/instinct/wisdom zone and just thinking we know in the thought area of the mind.)
